Registrations

A Documented boat must be issued Iowa numbers and a Title if the vessel is to be used on Iowa waters before a Certificate of Documentation is Issued.
After issuance of the Certificate of Documentation, Owner mails in a copy of the Certificate of Documentation and the Title is cancelled. The Iowa Numbers are then removed from the vessel. To cancel a Title the Lienholder must sign a release of lien on the Title.

A vessel may operate for up to 30 days with proof that Registration has been applied for.
